ISSUE 21: Love, Loss and Art: A Tribute to Mimi Bear

There’s a unique kind of grief that follows the loss of a beloved pet. It’s not just the loss of our furry friend, but the loss of a partner, a confidant, a fur baby; not to mention, a constant source of joy, love, peace and comfort. Losing a soul pet is often the most difficult thing we will ever experience, yet most of us won’t talk about it. Pet loss is most often a “silent grief”—since it’s a difficult one for others to understand unless they’ve experienced it themselves. In this issue of DOGUE, we give voice to this heavy grief, acknowledging the deep pain of pet loss, and use the wisdom of sages to offer ways through it.

In this Valentines themed issue, we share our favorite looks of the season, and introduce you to two pupstars, Tinkerbelle and Belle, who are taking the world by storm. We also feature a talented pet artist Alison Friend, who paints life through the lens of a pet. And, we review the art – inspired Marc Jacobs collaboration – the Bark Jacobs collection, that makes one great memorial item. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means honoring the love we had and allowing it to live on in ways that bring peace to our hearts; turning the pain into something beautiful.
