True Love Has Four Paws: A Valentine’s love story starring Coco

Some love stories don’t begin with grand gestures or dramatic declarations—they begin with four paws, a watchful gaze, and a presence that quietly changes everything. Coco is not just a dog; he is the center of Eva María Pérez’s love story built on loyalty, healing, and unconditional devotion. As Valentine’s Month invites us to reflect on what true love really means, model and actress Eva María Pérez—leading lady of the documentary Where the Wind Takes Me—opens her heart to share the story of the companion who walked beside her through darkness and into light. What follows is not simply an interview, but a love letter to the four-pawed miracle who became her family.

After years in front of the camera, Eva María Pérez has learned how to tell stories—but the most important one in her life begins with Coco.

DOGUE: How did Coco come into your life?

Eva María Pérez: If you ask me what truly saved my life, the answer has four paws and a mischievous tongue: Coco. Coco came into my life when I needed him the most. I was going through depression, and a friend gave him to me—like handing me hope wrapped in fur.

DOGUE: Can you take us back to the moment you first met Coco?

Eva María Pérez: I remember that moment as clearly as a movie scene: our eyes met, and in that instant, everything just clicked. It wasn’t just love at first sight; it was recognition—a silent promise of companionship that still beats in every sunrise.

DOGUE: How would you describe Coco’s personality?

Eva María Pérez: He’s sweet and playful, but there’s also an ancient wisdom in those round, button-like eyes that seem to know your deepest secret.

DOGUE: What’s life like day-to-day with Coco?

Eva María Pérez: Life with Coco means never being alone—ever. I no longer know what privacy means. He follows me everywhere. At night we share dinner, and Coco insists on sharing my persimmon. He can’t help it. I take a bite, and he stares at me until I give him his piece. It’s our special moment, our secret language. We still don’t agree about our sleeping arrangements— my bed has become his, along with all his stuffed toys. But hearing him snore gives me peace; it means he’s safe and happy. Ah, the things we do for unconditional love.

DOGUE: What was it like having Coco on set for the photoshoot?

Eva María Pérez: During the photoshoot, Coco behaved like what he truly is: a star. He enjoys every part of the process. He loves dressing up, posing, and soaking in the compliments. And he knows—everything looks good on him.

DOGUE: Can you tell us about the inspiration behind Coco’s outfits?

Eva María Pérez: I planned the styling to reflect his personality: comfortable, playful pieces with that charming touch that defines him.

The Heartbeat of Eva’s Life

Coco isn’t just a companion; he’s the heartbeat behind Eva María Pérez’s world. From quiet moments at home to the sets of Where the Wind Takes Me, his devotion, playfulness, and star quality have made him an irreplaceable part of her life.

Eva María Pérez: To me, he’s not a pet; he’s a refuge, a furry therapist, a partner in crime, and my family. A lifetime wouldn’t be enough to thank him for all he’s given me. If you see a spark in my eyes today, that sparkle bears his name—Coco.

And in the end, she knows exactly where her greatest love story began: “He’s the true love of my life. Some people look for miracles. I just had to look into his eyes.”
