With millions of views across TikTok and Instagram, @Ogaduke_ has become much more than a pet account. Their content celebrates the special bond between humans and their dogs while showcasing Nigerian culture, family humor, and the joy of storytelling. Along the way, Osoba has also become a positive voice for responsible pet ownership and animal welfare, proving that sometimes the simplest ideas create the biggest impact.

We had the pleasure of interviewing the Nigerian content creator Oreoluwa Osoba, the creator behind the beloved @Ogaduke_ account, to talk about life with Duke, the inspiration behind their viral videos, and the special bond that has captured the hearts of millions around the world.

DOGUE: How did Duke come into your life?

Oreoluwa Osoba: Three years ago, in 2023, I adopted Duke. He was just three months old when I found him with a family in South Africa online. I contacted them and asked if I could adopt him, and that’s how he became part of my family.

DOGUE: Is Duke your first pup? Your first pet?

Oreoluwa Osoba: When I was younger, I had two pets named Rex and Fluffy. I also adopted a stray cat when I was eight. I had to beg my parents to let me keep it, lol.

DOGUE: Why did you select this breed in particular?

Oreoluwa Osoba: I fell in love with the Miniature Schnauzer breed after seeing a few videos online. I loved how expressive they were, and since I have allergies, I was happy to learn that they barely shed any fur.

DOGUE: How old is Duke? Tell us about his funny traits or quirks.

Oreoluwa Osoba: Duke is three years old now. He turned three on February 24th. He is one of the funniest dogs ever. He’s always getting into trouble and then trying to cover it up. One time, he tore my rug and tried to hide the damaged spot with one of his toys, hoping I wouldn’t notice.

He’s incredibly clever and very emotional. He gets upset when he doesn’t get enough attention and will go sit in a corner until you come over and “apologize” to him. He’s also very vocal and expressive, and I can confidently say he runs the house.

Duke is loving, caring, and truly the perfect dog for me. He acts like the man of the house and is always trying to protect me and make sure I’m okay. Sometimes he’ll wake up in the middle of the night just to check on me before quietly going back to sleep. He’s the sweetest boy ever, and I couldn’t ask for a better companion.

DOGUE: Do you consider Duke to be your son? Tell us more about your relationship.

Oreoluwa Osoba: Oh yes, Duke is my son. Our bond is beyond anything words can describe. He came into my life just when I needed him most. He made me believe in love again and gave me the strength I needed. I thank God every day for bringing him into my life. Duke has always been the lifeboat that saved me from drowning.

I love him more than words can ever express. I worry about him, care for him, provide for him, and sometimes I’m a little overprotective—but that’s just me being a dad. He’s my strong 9 kg baby boy.

We understand each other without saying a word. It’s as if our hearts beat as one. If I’m sad, he’s sad. If he’s worried about something, I worry too. Whenever I’m out, I’m always eager to get back home to him.

We’re a simple little family with so much love. Together, we’ve built a home filled with love, respect, and forgiveness. I wouldn’t trade what we have for anything in the world.

DOGUE: How did Duke change your life?

Oreoluwa Osoba: Duke came into my life at a time when I was struggling with depression. He gave me a reason to keep going and loved me in a way I had never experienced before.

I remember one night when I felt like I couldn’t go on. I filled his food bowl, locked myself in my room, and wanted to give up. But instead of eating, Duke kept coming to my door, barking and scratching at it as if he knew something was wrong. That moment made me stop and rethink everything.

I’ll always believe that Duke saved my life. He gave me hope when I needed it most, and I’ll never be able to repay the love and comfort he has given me.

DOGUE: Tell us about the matching outfits.  How did that start?

Oreoluwa Osoba: Ever since Duke was a puppy, he has loved watching me get dressed. He also always wanted to be in front of the camera whenever I was taking pictures. One day, I decided to make him a little shirt, and he absolutely loved it. Taking it off him was a struggle because he didn’t want to part with it.

After that, I started making more outfits for him. Eventually, I decided to make matching outfits for both of us, and that’s how it all started.

DOGUE: Do you make the matching clothes yourself?

Oreoluwa Osoba: I make some of them myself and I hired someone to do some of them.

DOGUE: Anything else you’d like share with us?

Oreoluwa Osoba: I hope our story reminds people that adopting an animal can change two lives, not just one. Duke may have found a home with me, but in many ways, he rescued me too. Every day, he teaches me about unconditional love, loyalty, forgiveness, and living in the moment. I’m incredibly grateful that we found each other, and I hope our bond inspires others to open their hearts to animals in need.
